A busy day at the gliderport. GBSC has 3 tow planes and a dozen or so club owned gliders. Many members also have their own privately owned gliders. On a good soaring day, everybody wants to launch. The puffy white cumulus clouds in the distance is a clue that it's a good day. My ship is next to last.

Soaring is a very social sport. Every one needs to pitch in to move gliders (they don't have engines :-)), fly tow planes, instruct, stage, and help launch.

Of course, conflicts do sometimes arise :-). Actually, Bob Boyd and Bill Maxwell were driving tie down stakes into the ground to secure gliders.

Before I bought my current glider "6N" (LS6-b), I had a 1/3 share in "T4" (Pegasus 101A). "6N" was previously "DJ" when owned by Doug Jacobs who, in 1985, won a world championship in Riete, Italy (as well as several US national contests).

Bob Boyd flying Pilatus B4 "PS" near Franconia NH. I'm flying the club's other B4. The Mittersill ski area is off of my left wingtip. I spent a lot of time there flying hang gliders many moons ago.
