The Greater Boston Soaring Club maintains this web log, or “BLOG”, which is open for posting to all members. Non members can read and subscribe, but are not allowed to post. This page can be accessed directly at .

The GBSC BLOG is intended to entertain people who are interested in our club and sport. It is not intended to be an archive of club documents (we have a club website for that), nor is it to be used for scheduling tow pilots and instructors (we have a web calendar for that). It should not be used for club business, unless we want everyone/anyone to read it.

Reading the blog is entirely optional. Any official announcements will be distributed through various email lists that the club maintains.

Always remember that the BLOG is public: anyone in the world can read it. Because of this, we will not be publishing the phone numbers, email addresses or real addresses of anyone, if we can help it. This goes for the “Comments” section as well.

While our BLOG is strictly optional, we think it has features that members and guests will find useful. The GBSC cell phone (held by the Senior Field Officer) has the capability to post short entries to the BLOG using Twitter. We envision that these entries will advise members of field status, soaring conditions, tow plane availability, cancellation of operations, and other information of operational interest. Anyone with access to the web (including smartphones) will be able to read these entries. Anyone who uses a RSS reader will be advised as new entries are made to the BLOG. Finally, anyone (including non-members) with a Twitter account will be able to receive these messages on any cellphone. Realize that these messages are charged to your cell phone account, so don’t subscribe unless you have some type of text messaging allowance with your cell company.

Any club member may create a blog entry.

All suggestions to improve the GBSC BLOG are welcome.
